What is a real Christian?

“What is a Christian?”

Different people have different ideas about what a Christian is. But to start at the beginning, it is simply a description of someone who has decided to follow Jesus Christ.

“What kind of people are Christians?”

The answer to that is ALL kinds of people. Ordinary people, in everyday lives. People that you will meet today, as you go about your daily life, in the bank, at the check-out, at the next desk to yours at work, the person on the end of the phone............

“Why do you believe it?”

The promises of Jesus are so exciting and life changing, that to just dismiss them would be foolish.

The discovery of the infinite love of God for each one of us is so incredible, everyone needs to hear about it. And God make promises to us. How about “Eternal life”, that’s a good starting point.

“Eternal Life, do you really believe that?”

Well, let me ask you. Do you know where you are going when you die? No?

You see, a Christian has that certainty.

The simple version of the question is: Heaven or Hell?

More on that in a moment.

The “S” word

Now, I‘m sure that that you sin from time to time, don’t you?

We all do.
The Bible tells us that Jesus came into the world to save us from our sins. (1 Timothy 1 v 15)

The great thing is that Jesus promises his forgiveness if we turn to Him and admit that we have messed up.

Jesus died on the cross to save us, yes each one of us, from our sins.

He rose from the dead to show that he is alive.

This is a living faith!

A Christian needs to ask Jesus for that forgiveness, turn away from their sins and in return they know that their sins are forgiven.

Everyone who isn’t a Christian has to carry the burden of their sins around with them and is destined to be lost.

And then there is the question of what happens when you die:

Becoming a Christian

People often have a fixed idea of what a Christian is. That view may have been formed by an experience many years ago in a Sunday School class, or by meeting someone at work. Give us a few minutes of your time to explain what it’s really about.
